Reconnecting with Roots: A Journey of Nature, and Giving Back
Sridhar Vembu, CEO of Zoho, working from his village, exemplifies the beauty of staying connected to where you come from. His journey fascinates me.
Eight years ago, I reconnected with my own roots. Today, I have fish farms, agriculture, a mango orchard, banana and many other types of plantations.
Why did I do this?
Because our heritage was slipping away. With so many of us working outside our state and country, our native lands were becoming inaccessible. Recreating my homeland was tough, but now, its beauty speaks volumes. The joy and fulfillment captured in pictures is immeasurable.
When our kids visit now, they have a wealth of learning and experiences awaiting them. It fills my heart to see them bond with nature, instead of being confined to concrete jungles.
My vision is still unfolding. There’s more to do, especially in supporting the underprivileged. Progress might be slow, but it’s steady, and every step brings us closer to our goal.
We take so much from nature and give back so little. We must realize that we are temporary custodians of these resources. They aren’t ours to keep forever.
We must remember our duty to nature. Let’s pay our rent to Mother Nature by giving back.
Share what you have. Create from what you have. Pay your rent to Mother Nature.
