Nalanda is back!
Did you know Nalanda University, once a global beacon of knowledge, has been revived?
Founded in the 5th century, Nalanda attracted scholars from across Asia.
It was renowned for studies in:
– Buddhist Philosophy
– Mathematics
– Astronomy
– Medicine
Nalanda produced groundbreaking innovations and hosted vast libraries filled with ancient texts.
In 1193, Bakhtiyar Khilji’s forces attacked Nalanda.
Thousands of monks were massacred, and the vast libraries were set ablaze.
The fires burned for months, destroying invaluable manuscripts.
Khilji, an uneducated man driven by fanaticism and greed, sought to erase competing ideologies.
After a failed invasion of Tibet, Khilji returned in defeat.
Depressed and bedridden, he was assassinated by his own general.
He got what he sowed – uneducated people destroy each other.
But, You can destroy buildings, you cannot kill the thirst for knowledge.
Nalanda once taught the world, and its legacy continues.
Reopened by PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar, Nalanda is not just a restoration.
